Character Health

Hit Points

Every character starts with 20 hit points at level 1.

Each time your character levels up, they gain 5 maximum hit points.

Character Level Hit Point Maximum
1 20
2 25
3 30
4 35
5 40

If your character has any Traits or Skills that increase or decrease Hit Point Maximum, apply these changes once at Level 1 and once each time your character levels up.

For example, if your character has the Tough Ancestors trait:

Tough Ancestors Add +2 to your Hit Point Maximum when your character levels up.

then their Hit Point Maximum would be:

Character Level Hit Point Maximum
1 22
2 29
3 36
4 43
5 50

For clarity, here is the formula to calculate Hit Point Maximum

Hit Point Maximum = 20 + Character Level * ( 5 + Trait/Skill modifiers )

Losing Hit Points

When a character reaches 0 HP, they gain the Injured condition (or increases their Injured condition rank by 1).

The character must then make an Endurance Skill Roll.

  • If they succeed, they gain 1 HP.
  • If they fail, they gain the Downed condition.

Downed

A character with the Downed condition cannot take any actions.

An ally can make a medicine skill check to assist a Downed character. If successful, the character gains 1 HP and the Downed condition is removed.

An ally can administer a healing potion or use any form of healing to assist a Downed character. The character gains the amount of HP they were healed for and the Downed condition is removed.
